The Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows is made up of seven groups of seven
beads, with a medal for each grouping depicting each of Mary’s Seven Sorrows. It
originated in the thirteenth century with the Seven Founders of the
Servite Order and is also known as the Servite Rosary. The mysteries include:
- The Prophecy of Simeon
- The Flight into Egypt
- The Three Day Separation from Jesus in Jerusalem
- Mary Meeting Christ on the Road to Calvary
- The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus
- The Removal of Jesus from the Cross
- The Burial of Jesus
Our
Lady of
Kibeho, a Church-approved Marian apparition that occurred in Rwanda in
the 1980’s, especially emphasized the need to pray this rosary. It is
usually made with black or dark beads to indicate sorrow, though we
offer all our beads for the customer's choosing. Please note that this
rosary is handmade to order, so please expect a wait time of 2-4 weeks
unless "Rush it!" is selected. If you rush order, please indicate in
the notes at checkout when you would like to receive it.
